E-Hentai, ExHentai and EHViewer: what is the difference?
E-Hentai (e-hentai.org, EH) and ExHentai (exhentai.org, EX) belong to the same gallery system. EHViewer is a third-party app for browsing it. An “EHViewer EX account” means an account with ExHentai access, not a separate account registered inside the app.
EH has manga, doujinshi, art collections, game CG, cosplay and non-adult material. EX overlaps with EH and also shows some galleries that are not publicly displayed on EH. They are not two completely separate collections.
| E-Hentai / EH | ExHentai / EX | |
|---|---|---|
| Website | https://e-hentai.org/ |
https://exhentai.org/ |
| Account | An ordinary account can sign in | EX eligibility and a valid session are also required |
| Galleries | Galleries visible on EH | Overlapping galleries plus some EX-only galleries |
| Typical problem | Signing in works, but a gallery is missing | Blank screen, Sad Panda or the app still using EH |
Why would you need ExHentai access?
A gallery displayed only on EX may not appear in an EH search, even with the same title or tags. Content visibility changes around 2019 are part of this history; check where a gallery is available now rather than relying on old gallery counts.
If EH already opens what you need, you can keep using EH. Consider EX access when you need its listings or EX-only galleries. Buying an account does not restore deleted galleries or guarantee that a particular work will remain available.
Does signing in to EH prove you can access EX?
No. A valid password, EX eligibility and a working EX session are separate conditions. “Login successful” in EHViewer also does not mean the app has switched to EX.
A newly registered account may not immediately have EX access. The Basic Account sold here explicitly does not include EX access. Choose an ExHentai Account if you need EX.
How to test an existing account
- Sign in with the correct login username at the E-Hentai forums.
- If an earlier EX attempt failed, clear old Cookies and site data for
exhentai.org. - Open
https://exhentai.org/in the same browser and check whether the gallery list appears. - If it stays blank, follow the blank screen and Sad Panda guide. One failed attempt alone does not prove missing access: the session or connection may be responsible.
After the browser test succeeds, follow the EHViewer login guide. Reaching the site and completing login verification are separate checks.
Can you register your own account?
Yes. Use Register from EH's My Home or the forum login page and complete the site's verification. Save the login username and password; the public display name may be different. Use an accessible recovery email.
After registration, test EH login and then EX access. Old claims about “seven days”, “10–20 days” or particular email domains are not guarantees of EX eligibility. If you already have a working account, investigate the session, selected site and connection before repeatedly registering new accounts.
Account, Cookies or assisted donation?
An ExHentai Account supplies a username and password with EX access. Cookies supply a shared signed-in session, without account ownership or a password. Assisted donation is performed on your existing account.
After the assisted donation is completed, your account can view EX content on EH and also access EX. It suits users who want to retain a long-used account. Browsing benefits can also make it preferable to an ordinary EX account.
Donating yourself uses BCH (Bitcoin Cash). Buying BCH can involve exchange registration and KYC identity verification. Assisted donation is an option if you prefer support to handle this on your existing account.
